Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order revokes and replaces the Time Off for Public Duties Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 (S.R. 2003 No. 365) to correct drafting errors in it.
Article 78 of the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (“the 1996 Order”) requires an employer to allow time off during working hours, subject to the provisions of that Article, to an employee who is a member of a body specified in it. Article 3 of this Order modifies Article 78 of the 1996 Order by adding district policing partnerships, established on the coming into force of certain provisions of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000, to the list of bodies whose members are covered by that Article.
