These Regulations amend the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 (“the principal Regulations”) by increasing the fees as follows –
(1) For a vehicle 3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight or under—
(a)the fee payable on application for a first test, a periodical test, a re-test or an appeal is increased from £25·00 to £28·00; and
(b)the fee payable where an application for a re-test is made within 21 days from the date of service of a notice of refusal of a goods vehicle test certificate is increased from £16·00 to £17·50.
(2) For vehicles exceeding 3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight –
(a)the fee payable on application for a first test, a periodical test, a re-test or an appeal is increased as follows –
(i)for a 2 axle rigid vehicle, from £32·00 to £35·00;
(ii)for a 3 axle rigid vehicle, from £42·00 to £45·00;
(iii)for a 4 axle rigid vehicle, from £53·00 to £56·00;
(iv)for an articulated vehicle having a 2 axle drawing vehicle, from £36·00 to £39·00; and
(v)for an articulated vehicle having a 3 axle drawing vehicle, from £48·00 to £51·00.
These Regulations further amend the principal Regulations by dividing the vehicle category trailer into 3 categories (previously 1 category) –
(a)for trailers the previous single fee of £33·50 payable on application for a first test, a periodical test, a re-test or an appeal is now:
(i)for a 1 axle trailer £32·50;
(ii)for a 2 axle trailer £33·50;
(iii)for a 3 axle trailer £34·50.
(b)for all trailer categories the fee payable where an application for a re-test is made within 21 days from the date of service of a notice of refusal of a goods vehicle test certificate remains unchanged at £18·50.
The Goods Vehicles (Testing) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 are revoked as a consequence of these Regulations.
