The Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 26(1) and 37(1) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, with the approval of the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure(2), hereby makes the following Byelaws:
1. These Byelaws may be cited as the Fisheries (Tagging and Logbook) (Amendment) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2003.
2. The Fisheries (Tagging and Logbook) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2001(3) shall be amended as provided in Byelaws 3 to 5.
3. In Byelaw 2(1)–
(a)for the definition of “game fishing rod licence” there shall be substituted the following definition–
““game fishing rod licence” means a game fishing rod licence, a concessionary season fishing rod licence, or a juvenile season fishing rod licence issued pursuant to the Fisheries Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 1997(4);”;
(b)in the definition of “logbook” for the word “one” there shall be substituted the word “three”;
(c)the definition of “one day angling logbook” shall be deleted; and
(d)after the definition of “tail tag” there shall be inserted the following definition–
““three day angling logbook” means a logbook as set out in the format prescribed in Schedule 1;”.
4. For Byelaw 7 there shall be substituted the following Byelaw–
“7. The Board or an authorised agent shall issue–
(a)a salmon and sea trout angling logbook to the holder of a game fishing rod licence other than a three day game fishing rod licence;
(b)a three day angling logbook to the holder of a three day game fishing rod licence.”.
5. For Schedule 1 (one day angling logbook) there shall be substituted the following Schedule–

These Byelaws amend the Fisheries (Tagging and Logbook) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2001 by–
(a)amending the definition of “game fishing rod licence” so that it also includes concessionary and juvenile season fishing rod licences, deleting the definition of “one day angling logbook”, and inserting a definition of “three day angling logbook” in Byelaw 2(1) (Byelaw 3);
(b)replacing references to “one day angling logbook” with references to “three day angling logbook” (Byelaws 3 and 4); and
(c)replacing the format of the one day angling logbook prescribed in Schedule 1 with the format for a three day angling logbook (Byelaw 5).
1966 c. 17 (N.I.); section 26(1) was amended by Article 8(3) of the Fisheries (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/1466 (N.I. 13)) and by section 5 of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (2001 c. 4 (N.I.)); section 37 was substituted by section 1 of, and Schedule 1 to, the Fisheries (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 1968 (1968 c. 31 (N.I.)) and was amended by Article 9 of the Fisheries (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 and by section 6 of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001
