1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2002.
(2) In this Order:
“the Act” means the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001.
2. The 1st February 2002 is the day appointed for the coming into operation of the following sections of the Act:
(a)section 12 (Restriction on bringing children into the United Kingdom for adoption); and
(b)section 14(1)(b) in so far as it relates to Article 58ZA.

This Order brings into operation on 1st February 2002 Section 12 and Section 14(1)(b) (partially) of the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001.
Section 12 inserts into the Adoption (Northern Ireland) Order 1987 Article 58ZA which makes it an offence in Northern Ireland for anyone habitually resident in the British Islands other than a parent, relative or guardian to bring a child into the United Kingdom unless they meet the requirements prescribed in Regulations.
Section 14(1)(b) inserts into the definition of “prescribed” in the Adoption (Northern Ireland) Order 1987 a reference to Article 58ZA.

Sections 7 and 11 of the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 were brought into operation by the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001 (S.R. 2001 No. 322 (C. 15)) on 1st October 2001.
