1. These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 21st June 2002.
2. In regulation 17(3)(b) of the Legal Advice and Assistance Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1981(1) –
(1) after the words “those proceedings”, in sub-paragraph (iii), there shall be added the word “, or”;
(2) after the words “Life Sentence Review Commissioners”, in sub-paragraph (iv), there shall be added the word “, or”;
(3) after sub-paragraph (iv), there shall be added the following sub-paragraph –
“(v)in respect of a hearing held under Article 10 or 11 of the Life Sentences (Northern Ireland) Order 2001(2) by a solicitor acting on behalf of the person whose case is or is to be the subject of the hearing”.
