Whereas a draft of the Northern Ireland Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme 2002 has been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 3(5) of the Criminal Injuries Compensation (Northern Ireland) Order 2002(1) hereby makes the following Order.
1. This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme 2002 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2002.
2. The Northern Ireland Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme 2002, save for paragraph 9, shall come into operation on 1st May 2002.

This Commencement Order brings into operation the Northern ireland Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme 2002, save for paragraph 9 (Jurisdiction of Claim) with effect from 1st May 2002.
