1. This Order may be cited as the Foot-and-Mouth Disease (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 27th February 2001.
2. The Foot-and-Mouth Disease Order (Northern Ireland) 1962(3) shall be amended as provided in Articles 3 to 5.
3. In Article 3 after the definition of “poultry” there shall be added the following definition—
““premises” includes land with or without buildings;”.
4. After Article 24 there shall be added—
24A. The owner or person in charge of an animal placed or kept on commons or unenclosed lands shall, upon the making of a declaration under Article 2(1) of the Foot-and-Mouth Disease (Infected Area) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001(4), in relation to that land isolate that animal within premises in the infected area.”.
5. After Article 32 there shall be added—
32A. The owner or person in charge of an animal placed or kept on commons or unenclosed lands shall, upon the making of an Order under Article 29(1) in relation to that land, isolate that animal within premises in the controlled area.”.

This Order amends the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Order (Northern Ireland) 1962 so as to make provision for the isolation of animals placed or kept on commons or unenclosed lands within an infected area or controlled area in the event of an outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in such an area.
