SOCIAL SECURITY

The Social Security Fraud (2001 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001

The Department for Social Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 17(1) of the Social Security Fraud Act (Northern Ireland) 2001(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Social Security Fraud (2001 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001.

Appointed days

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation of section 15 of the Social Security Fraud Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (offence of failing to notify a change of circumstances)—

(a)for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, is 3rd December 2001; and

(b)for all other purposes, is 7th January 2002.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides for the coming into operation of section 15 of the Social Security Fraud Act (Northern Ireland) 2001 (which provides for offences in relation to the failure to notify a change of circumstances) for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations on 3rd December 2001 and for all other purposes on 7th January 2002.

This Order does not impose a charge on business.
