The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, being a Department designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the said section 2(2) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 2) (Revocation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 8th June 2001.
(2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(3) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Revocation
2. The Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001(4) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations implement in Northern Ireland Commission Decision 2001/430/EC (O.J. No. L153, 8.6.2001, p. 33) amending for the third time Commission Decision 2001/356/EC (O.J. No. L125, 5.5.2001, p. 46) concerning certain protection measures with regard to foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom.
The Regulations revoke the Import and Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001, (S.R. 2001 No. 204). The effect is to remove protection measures which restrict the import and export of certain animal and animal products with regard to the control of foot-and-mouth disease.
