Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 132(2)(a) and (d), 135(2)(a) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and with the approval of the Department of Finance and Personnel(2) as regards regulation 2, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 and shall come into operation on 19th June 2000.

Amendment of the Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1991

2.  Regulation 24 (fees) of the Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1991(3) shall be amended as follows—

(a)in paragraph (1) for “£65” there shall be substituted “£72”;

(b)in paragraph (2) for “£118” there shall be substituted “£130”;

(c)in paragraph (3) for “£124” there shall be substituted “£138”;

(d)in paragraph (4), (5), (6) and (7) for “£220” there shall be substituted “£240”; and

(e)in paragraph (8) for “£110” there shall be substituted “£120”.

Revocation

3.  The Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995(4) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations further amend the Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1991 by increasing fees as follows—

(a)from £65 to £72 for a person applying to submit himself to the written part of the examination;

(b)from £118 to £130 for a person applying to submit himself to the driving ability and fitness test;

(c)from £124 to £138 for a person applying to submit himself to the instructional ability and fitness test;

(d)from £220 to £240 for a person applying for the entry of his name in the register;

(e)from £220 to £240 for a person applying for the renewal of an entry of his name in the register for a further period of four years;

(f)from £220 to £240 for a person applying for entry of his name in the register if that person is in the corresponding register in Great Britain;

(g)from £220 to £240 for a person applying for re-entry of his name in the register, where the person, having made such an application within one year of the removal of his name from the register, is not required to pass the examination; and

(h)from £110 to £120 for a person applying for a licence to give instruction or a renewal thereof.

The Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 are revoked as a consequence of these Regulations.
