The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(3) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Education (1998 Order) (Commencement No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation of Article 70(5), (6) and (8) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 shall be 30th November 1999.

Sealed with the Official Seal of the Department of Education on 1st November 1999.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order brings into operation on 30th November 1999 Article 70(5), (6) and (8) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 which provides for education and library boards to make grants to trustees of maintained schools equal to the trustees' costs on foot of approved contracts.
