Citation, commencement and interpretation
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Housing Benefit (General) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 and shall come into operation as follows—
(a)for the purposes of this regulation and regulations 11 and 12, on 1st November 1999;
(b)for the purposes of regulations 2 to 10,
(i)in any case where rent is payable at intervals of a whole number of weeks, on 3rd April 2000, and
(ii)in any other case, on 1st April 2000.
(2) In these Regulations the “principal Regulations” means the Housing Benefit (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987(1).
(3) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(2) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Assembly.
