Royal Ulster Constabulary (Amendment) Regulations 1999

The Secretary of State, in pursuance of section 25 of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998(1), after taking into account the recommendations made by the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom and supplying the Board with a draft of the regulations in accordance with section 62(1) of the Police Act 1996(2), hereby makes the following regulations:—

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Royal Ulster Constabulary (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into operation on 12th November 1999.

Amendment of the Royal Ulster Constabulary Regulations 1996

2.—(1) The Royal Ulster Constabulary Regulations 1996(3) shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).

(2) In regulation 2(1) the definition of public holiday shall be amended to insert the words “31st December 1999,” preceding the words “New Year’s Day”.

These Regulations further amend the Royal Ulster Constabulary Regulations 1996 to allow for an extra day of leave to members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary, on 31st December 1999, to mark the Millennium.
