The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 1(3) and 90(3) of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Education (1998 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1999.
2. Article 13 of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 shall come into operation on 1st September 1999.

This Order brings into operation on 1st September 1999 Article 13 of the Education (Northern Ireland) Order 1998. That Article requires the scheme of management for each grant-aided school to provide that it is the duty of the Board of Governors of the school to prepare, and from time to time revise, a school development plan. It also enables the Department to make regulations
(a)prescribing the matters to be dealt with by the plan;
(b)prescribing the period for which the plan is to have effect;
(c)prescribing the manner in which the plan is to be published; and
(d)providing for the revision of the plan.
(This note is not part of the Order.)
