Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment No. 6) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment No. 6) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation—

(a) for the purposes of regulation 3(3), on 1st January 2000;

(b) for the purposes of regulation 3(4) and (6) on 1st September 2001; and

(c) for all other purposes on 1st August 1999.

(3) The Department is satisfied that—

(a) it is requisite that the provisions of regulation 3(9) shall apply as from 1st August 1999 to vehicles registered under the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994(1) before the expiration of one year from the making of these Regulations; and

(b) notwithstanding that the said provisions will then apply to those vehicles, no undue hardship or inconvenience will be caused thereby.

(4) In these Regulations “the principle Regulations” means the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1989(2).
