ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Public Service Vehicles (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 61(1), 66(1), 80 and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and with the approval of the Department of Finance and Personnel(2) in relation to regulation 2, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 and shall come into operation on 20th April 1998.

Amendment of the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985

2.—(1) The Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985(3) shall be amended as provided in paragraphs (2) and (3).

(2) In regulation 10 (refund of fees), in paragraph (2), in the definition of “exceptional circumstances”, the words “an epidemic, severe weather,” shall be omitted.

(3) In Schedule 7 (fees for vehicle licences)(4), in paragraphs 1(b) and 2(b), for “£35·00”, in each place where that figure occurs, there shall be substituted “£45·00”.

Revocation

3.  Regulation 2(4) of the Public Service Vehicles (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995(5) is hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations further amend Schedule 7 to the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985 by increasing the fee to be accompanied with an application or re-application (following a refusal) for a vehicle licence for a bus from £35 to £45.
