The Department of Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 3(2) of and paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 2 to the Education (Student Loans) (Northern Ireland) Order 1990(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Loans) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 and shall come into operation on 1st September 1998.
2. Regulation 8(5) of the Education (Student Loans) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998(2) shall be amended by substituting for the figure “£4” the figure “£4·50”.

These Regulations further amend the Education (Student Loans) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 so as to increase the payment to be made by a lender under those Regulations to the governing body of an institution for sending a completed and certified eligibility form, from £4 to £4·50.
