Code of Practice (Picketing) (Appointed Day) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998

The Department of Economic Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 95(5) of the Industrial Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1992(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Code of Practice (Picketing) (Appointed Day) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998.

Code of Practice

2.  The Department of Economic Development hereby appoints 1st September 1998 as the day on which there shall come into effect the Code of Practice on Picketing issued by the Department on 1st September 1998 under Article 95(1) and (5) of the Industrial Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1992.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order specifies 1st September 1998 as the date upon which the Code of Practice on Picketing issued by the Department under Article 95 of the Industrial Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 shall come into effect.

Under paragraph (13) of Article 95 of that Order, the Code can be admitted in evidence in any proceedings before a court, an industrial tribunal or the Industrial Court and if any provision of it appears to the court, tribunal or the Industrial Court to be relevant to any question arising in the proceedings, it shall be taken into account in determining the question.
