Carrickfergus Harbour Order (Northern Ireland) 1998

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 13(1) of the Harbours Act (Northern Ireland) 1970(1) and now vested in it(2), and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Carrickfergus Harbour Order (Northern Ireland) 1998 and shall come into operation on 11th March 1998.

Direction

2.  Subject to section 13(1) of the Harbours Act (Northern Ireland) 1970, the Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847(3) shall apply in relation to Carrickfergus Harbour as if section 33 of that Act were omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides that, subject to section 13(1) of the Harbours Act (Northern Ireland) 1970 (Application of provisions of Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847), the latter Act shall apply to Carrickfergus Harbour as if section 33 thereof (Harbour, dock and pier to be free to the public on payment of rates) were omitted.
