Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations amend the Misuse of Drugs (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1986 (“the 1986 Regulations”) by adding Etryptamine and Methcathinone to Schedule 1; Zipeprol to Schedule 2; and Aminorex, Brotizolam and Mesocarb to Schedule 4 Part II. These drugs became subject to control under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 by virtue of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/ 750). These Regulations also transfer Flunitrazepam from Schedule 4 Part II to Schedule 3 to the 1986 Regulations.
