Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998

Citation and commencement

1.  These regulations may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1998.

Interpretation

2.  The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(1) shall apply to these regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Amendment of the Misuse of Drugs (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1986

3.—(1) The Misuse of Drugs (Northern Ireland) Regulations 1986(2) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions.

(2) In paragraph 1(a) of Schedule 1, there shall be inserted—

(a)after the word “Eticyclidine”, the word “Etryptamine”; and

(b)after the word “Mescaline”, the word “Methcathinone”.

(3) In paragraph 1 of Schedule 2, after the word “Trimeperidine”, there shall be inserted the word “Zipeprol”.

(4) In paragraph 1(a) of Schedule 3, after the word “Ethinamate”, there shall be inserted the word “Flunitrazepam”.

(5) In paragraph 1 of Part II of Schedule 4(3), the word “Flunitrazepam” shall be deleted and there shall be inserted—

(a)after the word “Alprazolam”, the word “Aminorex”;

(b)after the word “Bromazepam”, the word “Brotizolam”; and

(c)after the word “Mefenorex”(4), the word “Mesocarb”.
