Coming into operation

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 20(1) of the Airports (Northern Ireland) Order 1994(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Airports (Designation) (Facilities for Consultation) Order 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1997.
2. The following airports are hereby designated for the purposes of Article 20 of the Airports (Northern Ireland) Order 1994, that is to say—
(a)Belfast International Airport;
(b)Belfast City Airport; and
(c)City of Derry Airport.

Under Article 20 of the Airports (Northern Ireland) Order 1994 the operator of an airport to which the Article applies shall provide adequate facilities for consultation with respect to any matter concerning the management or administration of the airport for users of the airport, the General Consumer Council for Northern Ireland, any appropriate district council and any other organisation representing local interests.
This Order designates Belfast International Airport, Belfast City Airport and City of Derry Airport as airports for the purposes of the said Article 20.
