Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

Article 9(1) of the Horse Racing (Northern Ireland) Order 1990 provides for charges to be paid to the Department of Agriculture by persons who intend to apply for bookmakers' and bookmaking office licences.

This Order increases the charges payable—

(a)by persons, other than those mentioned in paragraph (b), who intend to apply for the grant or renewal of a bookmaker’s licence, from £80 to £82; and

(b)by persons who intend to apply for the grant or renewal of a bookmaking office licence or to have the provisional grant of a bookmaking office licence declared final, from £900 to £923.

  • This Order also revokes the Horse Racing (Charges on Bookmakers) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996.
