This Order brings into operation on 18th July 1997 Articles 16(5) and 76(4) to (6) of the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996. Article 16(5) provides that nothing in Article 16 (Admissibility of records as evidence) shall enable evidence to be given with respect to any matter other than a matter of description prescribed by magistrates courts rules. Articles 76(4) to (6) enable the Lord Chancellor to make regulations with regard to the enforcement of payment of sums registered under that Article (including modifications of certain provisions of the Magistrates' Courts (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and incidental, supplementary and consequential provision).
