The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the power conferred on it by Article 1(2) of the Personal Social Services (Direct Payments) (Northern Ireland) Order 1996(1) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Personal Social Services (Direct Payments) (1996 Order) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation of the provisions of the Personal Social Services (Direct Payments) (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 is 1st April 1997.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order appoints 1st April 1997 as the day for the coming into operation of the provisions of Personal Social Services (Direct Payments) (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 enabling the Department of Health and Social Services to make payments to persons in respect of their securing the provision of personal social services.
