Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Control of Traffic (Belfast) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 9th February 1997.

Prohibition of left-hand turn

2.  Subject to Article 3, a person shall not cause or permit a vehicle travelling in a westerly direction along Castle Lane, Belfast, to make a left-hand turn into Callender Street.

Exemptions

3.  Article 2 shall not apply to—

(a)vehicles being used for fire brigade, ambulance, police or military purposes; or

(b)a vehicle, the driver of which is acting upon the direction or with the permission of a constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.

Prohibition of traffic

4.  Subject to Article 5, the use by motor vehicles of Callender Street, Belfast, from its junction with Donegall Square North, to a point approximately 65 metres south of its junction with Castle Lane, is prohibited.

Exceptions

5.  Article 4 shall not apply to—

(a)a motor vehicle being used for the purposes specified in the Schedule; or

(b)a vehicle, the driver of which is acting upon the direction or with the permission of a constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
