The Department of Finance and Personnel, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 5(1) and (2) of the Ombudsman (Northern Ireland) Order 1996(1) and Article 4(1) and (2) of the Commissioner for Complaints (Northern Ireland) Order 1996(2) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Salaries (Assembly Ombudsman and Commissioner for Complaints) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 19th November 1996.
2. The Salaries (Parliamentary Commissioner and Commissioner for Complaints) Order (Northern Ireland) 1995(3) is hereby revoked.
3. The annual salaries payable to the Assembly Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Complaints shall be increased as follows—
(a)from £69,175 to £72,029 from 1st April 1996;
(b)from £72,029 to £72,980 from 1st December 1996.

This Order provides for an increase in the annual salaries payable to the Assembly Ombudsman for Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Complaints.
These increases are made with retrospective effect from 1st April 1996 and from 1st December 1996 under Article 5(2) of the Ombudsman (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 and Article 4(2) of the Commissioner for Complaints (Northern Ireland) Order 1996.
Article 2 revokes the Salaries (Parliamentary Commissioner and Commissioner for Complaints) Order (Northern Ireland) 1995.
