2.—(1) The Fresh Meat (Beef Controls) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996(1) shall be amended as provided in paragraphs (2) to (4).
(2) In Article 2, after the definition of “the Department” there shall be inserted the following definition—
““mammalian meat and bone meal” shall have the meaning given to it in the Specified Bovine Material (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996(2);”.
(3) In Part I of Schedule 1—
(a)for paragraph 7(1) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph—
“7.—(1) The herd shall have been in existence for four years, except where, at the time of the application, every bovine animal in the herd came from a registered herd.”;
(b)in paragraphs 8 and 9(a), there shall be inserted before the word “meat” in both places where it occurs the word “mammalian”; and
(c)in paragraph 9(b), for the words “which only produced feed for ruminants” there shall be substituted the words “in which, over the four years prior to the application, mammalian meat and bone meal has not knowingly been stored or used”;
(4) For paragraph 5 of Part II of Schedule 1 there shall be substituted the following paragraph—
“5. A bovine animal in the herd shall not be fed any feed or compound feed, which contains mammalian meat and bone meal.”.
