1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Marriage of Children (Consents) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into force on 2nd December 1996.
(2) In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Marriage of Minors (Consents) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1954.
2.—(1) In the principal Regulations—
(a)in regulation 1(2) for the word “minors” there shall be substituted the word “children”; and
(b)in regulations 3 and 13, for the word “minor” there shall be substituted the word “child”.
(2) For the First Schedule of the principal Regulations, there shall be substituted the following Schedule—

These Regulations make minor changes to the Marriage of Minors (Consents) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1954. They substitute the word “child” for “minor” and substitute the forms to be used where the consent of the marriage of a child is required.
