This is the original version (as it was originally made). Northern Ireland Statutory Rules are not carried in their revised form on this site.
(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations revoke and remake with amendments the Specified Bovine Material (Treatment and Disposal) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and the Specified Bovine Material (Treatment and Disposal) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996. Those Regulations implemented various directives first specified in the Specified Bovine Offal (Treatment and Disposal) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 and the Mechanically Recovered Meat Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995.
The only change of substance lies in the requirements of these Regulations that solid matter trapped in drainage systems where bovine animals are slaughtered or their carcases processed shall be deemed to be specified bovine material, and shall be treated accordingly.
