1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Prospective Cost) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 10th June 1996.
(2) The Legal Advice and Assistance (Prospective Cost) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992(3) are hereby revoked.
2. For the limit of £86·50 specified in Article 6(2) of the Legal Aid, Advice and Assistance (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(4) there shall be substituted the limit of £88·00.

These Regulations revoke and replace the Legal Advice and Assistance (Prospective Cost) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992 to increase from £86·50 to £88·00 the limit on the cost of legal advice and assistance provided under Articles 3 and 4 of the Legal Aid, Advice and Assistance (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 which a solicitor may incur without obtaining the approval of the appropriate authority.
