SLAUGHTER-HOUSES

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Slaughter-houses (Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 3rd May 1996.

Amendment of the licensing Regulations

2.  The Slaughter-houses (Licensing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1955(2) shall be amended as provided in regulations 3 and 4.

Animals which may be slaughtered in licensed meat plants

3.  For regulation 8 there shall be substituted the following regulation—

8.  A person shall not use any slaughter-house or pig slaughter-house licensed under Section 1 of the Act, or cause any such premises to be used for the slaughter of an animal the meat derived from which is not intended for human consumption unless such slaughter takes place pursuant to, and in accordance with, a slaughter scheme introduced by or under Council Regulation (EEC) No. 805/68(3)..

Records and returns

4.—(1) For the fourth Schedule there shall be substituted the Schedule set out in Part 1 of the Schedule to these Regulations.

(2) For the fifth Schedule there shall be substituted the Schedule set out in Part 2 of the Schedule to these Regulations.
