ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 61(1), 66(1) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and with the approval of the Department of Finance and Personnel(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 3rd June 1996.

Amendment of the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985

2.  For Schedule 7 to the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985(3) there shall be substituted—

(See Regulation 5(3) 9(2) and (3) and 12(1))

1.  Fee payable with initial application for a vehicle licence (see regulation 5(3))

Revocation

3.  The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995(4) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations).

These Regulations further amend the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985 by amending the fee payable—

(1) for an application or re-application (following a refusal) for a licence for a taxi from £29 to £32;

(2) where re-application is made within 21 days from the date of notice of a refusal and the taxi is presented for re-inspection on a date and at a time appointed by the Department from £10·50 to £10;

(3) for an application or re-application (following a refusal) for a licence—

(a)for a bus carrying more than 12 passengers from £41 to £35, and

(b)for a bus carrying 12 passengers or less from £31 to £35;

(4) where re-application is made within 21 days from the date of service of a notice of refusal and the bus is presented for re-inspection on a date appointed by the Department—

(a)for a bus carrying more than 12 passengers from £20·50 to £11;

(b)for a bus carrying 12 passengers or less from £14·50 to £11.

The fee for a duplicate vehicle licence remains unchanged at £9.

The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 are revoked as a consequence of these Regulations.
