ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Coming into operation
1st May 1996
The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 65(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following By-Laws:
1. These By-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1996.
2. For the entries relating to Donegall Square North and Donegall Square East in the Schedule to the Bye-Laws made in respect of Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951(2) there shall be substituted—

These By-Laws amend the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) By-Laws made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951 by—
(a)(i)abolishing the taxi stand on the south side of Donegall Square North and prescribing the position of the replacement stand on the north side, and(ii) increasing the number of taxis which may stand from 3 to 6;
(b)altering the position of the taxi stand on Donegall Square East and increasing the number of taxis which may stand from 7 to 8.
