Electricity (1992 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1992

The Department of Economic Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(2) and (3) of the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992(1) and paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974(2) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Electricity (1992 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1992.

Commencement

2.—(1) The provisions of the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 specified in the first column of the Schedule, which relate of the matters specified in the second column of that Schedule, shall come into operation on 21st February 1992.

(2) Article 5 of the Electricity (Northern Ireland Consequential Amendments) Order 1992(3) shall come into operation on 21st February 1992.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order brings into operation the provisions of the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1952 in relation to the appointment of the Director General of Electricity Supply for Northern Ireland and the Consumer Committee for Electricity, and to certain powers to make regulations and orders. The Order also brings into operation Article 5 of the Electricity (Northern h-eland Consequential Amendments) Order 1992 which amends section 100 of the Electricity Act 1989 (competition and restrictive trade practices).
