General duty
General duty in respect to the curriculum4

It shall be the duty of the Board of Governors and principal of every grant-aided school to exercise their functions as respects that school (including, in particular, the functions conferred on them by this Part) with a view to securing that the curriculum for the school satisfies the requirements of this Article.

The curriculum for a grant-aided school satisfies the requirements of this Article if it is a balanced and broadly based curriculum which—
a
promotes the spiritual, emotional, moral, cultural, intellectual and physical development of pupils at the school and thereby of society; and
b
prepares such pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life by equipping them with appropriate knowledge, understanding and skills.
