21Council executives

The executive of a council must take a form specified in subsection (2).

The executive may consist of—
a
a committee of the council (“cabinet-style executive”); or
b
more than one committee of the council (“streamlined committee executive”).

The chair and deputy chair of the council shall be non-voting members of the executive and shall be disregarded for the purpose of subsections (4) and (5).

A cabinet-style executive must have—
a
at least six members; and
b
not more than ten members.

Each committee in a streamlined committee executive must have—
a
at least six members; and
b
not more than ten members.

Regulations may amend the number of members specified in subsection (4)(b) or (5)(b).
