16Interpretation
In this Act—
“the Department” means the Department of Finance and Personnel;
“the Housing Executive” means the Northern Ireland Housing Executive;
“the principal Order” means the Rates (Northern Ireland) Order 1977 (NI 28);
“the 2004 Order” means the Rates (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 (NI 4);
“statutory provision” has the meaning given in section 1(f) of the Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 (c. 33).
17Minor and consequential amendments
The statutory provisions mentioned in Schedule 1 shall have effect with the amendments specified there.
18Repeals
The statutory provisions mentioned in Schedule 2 are hereby repealed to the extent specified in the second column of that Schedule.
19Commencement

This Act, except the provisions mentioned in subsection (2), shall come into operation on such day or days as the Department may by order appoint.

The provisions referred to in subsection (1) are—
section 6(5) and (6);
section 12;
section 13;
section 16;
section 17 so far as it relates to paragraphs 3 and 9 of Schedule 1;
this section;
section 20.
20Short title
This Act may be cited as the Rates (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 2009.
