The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 1984(1) and now vested in them(2), and with the approval of the Treasury; and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of, and paragraph 1A of Schedule 2 to, the European Communities Act 1972(3), makes the following Regulations.

These Regulations make provision for a purpose mentioned in section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and it appears to the Welsh Ministers that it is expedient for references to European Community (EC) instruments referred to in regulation 2(1) to be construed as references to those instruments as amended from time to time.

The functions of the “appropriate Minister” insofar as they are exercisable in relation to Wales, were transferred to the National Assembly for Wales by virtue of S.I. 1999/672. Functions conferred on the National Assembly for Wales are exercisable by the Welsh Ministers by virtue of paragraph 30 of and Schedule 11 to the Government of Wales Act 2006. Back [2]
