Article 22Controls on cross compliance
1.Member States shall carry out on-the-spot checks to verify whether a farmer complies with the obligations referred to in Chapter 1.
2.Member States may make use of their existing administration and control systems to ensure compliance with the statutory management requirements and good agricultural and environmental condition.
These systems, and notably the system for the identification and registration of animals set up in accordance with Council Directive 2008/71/EC of 15 July 2008 on the identification and registration of pigs(1) and Regulations (EC) No 1760/2000 and (EC) No 21/2004, shall be compatible with the integrated system, as provided for in Article 26(1) of this Regulation.
