on the position to be taken by the European Union within the EU-ICAO Joint Committee, concerning the Decision on the adoption of an Annex on aviation safety to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the European Union and the International Civil Aviation Organization providing a framework for enhanced cooperation

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Articles 100(2) and 218(9) thereof,
Having regard to the Council Decision 2011/530/EU of 31 March 2011 on the signing, on behalf of the Union, and provisional application, of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the European Union and the International Civil Aviation Organization providing a framework for enhanced cooperation1 (Memorandum of Cooperation),
Having regard to the proposal from the European Commission,
Whereas:
It is appropriate to establish the position to be adopted on the Union’s behalf within the EU-ICAO Joint Committee, set up under the Memorandum of Cooperation with regard to the adoption of an Annex on aviation safety to be added to that Memorandum of Cooperation,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
