The Insurance Brokers Registration Council Election Scheme Approval Order 1999

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order approves an election scheme made by the Insurance Brokers Registration Council in exercise of their powers under paragraph 2(2)(a) of the Schedule to the Insurance Brokers (Registration) Act 1977. The Scheme provides for the election of six members to represent registered insurance brokers on the Council. The Scheme also provides for the Insurance Brokers Registration Council, in consultation with the Treasury, to waive the need for elections on it being expedient for there not to be an election, in view of the likelihood, within 24 months of any elections being held, of the dissolution of the Council, or the transfer or repeal of any of its functions.
