The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 51A(3) and (5) of the Adoption Act 1976(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Rules:—

Citation and commencement

1.  These Rules may be cited as the Adopted Persons (Contact Register) (Fees) (Amendment) Rules 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.

Amendment of the Adopted Persons (Contact Register) (Fees) Rules 1991

2.  In rule 2 of the Adopted Persons (Contact Register) (Fees) Rules 1991(2) (fees payable for entries in the register) —

(a)in paragraph (1) for “£9.50” there shall be substituted “£15.00”; and

(b)in paragraph (2) for “£27.50” there shall be substituted “£30.00”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Rules)

These Rules amend the Adopted Persons (Contact Register) (Fees) Rules 1991 with effect from 1st April 1998. They increase the fee payable for the entry of the name and address of an adopted person from £9.50 to £15.00 and for the entry of the name and address of a relative of an adopted person from £27.50 to £30.00 in the Adoption Contact Register. The register is maintained by the Registrar General under section 51A of the Adoption Act 1976.
