Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order appoints 5th April 1993 as the day on which the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1992 (c. 56) shall come into force.

The Act makes provision to amend the Maintenance Orders (Facilities for Enforcement) Act 1920 (c. 33) and the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1972 (c. 18) in order to enable the new forms of procedure which now apply in proceedings in magistrates' courts in England and Wales under the Domestic Proceedings and Magistrates' Courts Act 1978 (c. 22) or the Children Act 1989 (c. 41) to be used for reciprocal enforcement of maintenance orders and of claims for the recovery of maintenance.
