The Department of Finance and Personnel makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1(1) and 2(a), 3(1) and (3) and 25(3) of the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Pensions (Certification Officer for Northern Ireland) (No.2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016, shall come into operation on 8th April 2016 and shall have effect from 1st April 2015.
2. In these Regulations “the scheme” means the scheme established under The Public Service (Civil Servants and Others) Pensions Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014(2).
3.—(1) The following persons are specified as persons to whom the scheme may potentially relate.
(2) These are—
(a)persons employed in the office of the Certification Officer for Northern Ireland(3).
4. The Public Service Pensions (Certification Officer for Northern Ireland) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016(4) is hereby revoked.

These Regulations specify persons employed in the office of Certification Officer for Northern Ireland as persons to whom the scheme, established under The Public Service (Civil Servants and Others) Pension Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014, may potentially relate, in accordance with section 25(3) of the Public Service Pensions (Northern Ireland) Act 2014. It has retrospective effect from 1st April 2015 by virtue of section 3(3)(b) of the 2014 Act.
Regulation 4 of these Regulations revokes the Public Service Pensions (Certification Officer for Northern Ireland) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016.
