The Dogs (Licensing and Identification) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development(1), makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 31(1) of the Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1983(2):

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Dogs (Licensing and Identification) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2010.

Amendment of the Dogs (Licensing and Identification) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1983

2. For Schedule 8 to the Dogs (Licensing and Identification) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1983(3) there shall be substituted the Schedule set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.

Revocation

3. The Dogs (Licensing and Identification) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005(4) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Dogs (Licensing and Identification) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1983 by setting out, for the period 1st January 2010 up to and including 31st December 2013, the shape, dimensions and colour of licence identification discs issued by district councils.

While the shape and dimensions of the disc remain unchanged throughout the period, its colour varies each year so that it must be blue where a dog licence or block licence is issued in 2010, orange where such a licence is issued in 2011, green where such a licence is issued in 2012, and yellow where such a licence is issued in 2013.

The Regulations revoke the Dogs (Licensing and Identification) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005.
