Part Ii the Curriculum

6.This Part of the Order provides for the introduction of a revised structure for the curriculum and assessment arrangements for children of compulsory school age. It also creates a new duty on Boards of Governors of all grant-aided schools to provide pupils at Key Stage 4 and those over compulsory school age with access to a number and range of courses specified by the Department and enables this access to be provided by the school or in accordance with arrangements made with another grant-aided school, FE colleges or other providers.

Part Iii Miscellaneous and Supplementary

7.This Part provides for new admissions arrangements to post-primary schools, including prohibiting schools from using a pupil’s ability or aptitude as an admissions criterion, new arrangements for the expulsion and suspension of pupils from grant-aided schools, amendments in relation to the governance of further education colleges and a number of minor and consequential amendments to, and repeals of, existing legislation. It also contains supplementary provisions about the exercise of powers to make orders and regulations.
