Part E S Reckonable service

Reckonable service as an MSP S

33 (1) A period for which an MSP member makes scheme member contributions from salary payments in respect of MSP salary is a period of reckonable service as an MSP. S

(2) An individual's “reckonable service as an MSP” means the total of—

(a) the period described in rule 33(1) or (if more than one) the total of such periods, and

(b) any amount by which that period is increased under Part N (transfers) or Part O (added years).

Reckonable service as an office-holder S

34 (1) A period for which an office-holder member makes scheme member contributions from salary payments in respect of office-holder salary is a period of reckonable service as an office-holder. S

(2) An individual's “reckonable service as an office-holder” means the total of—

(a) the period described in rule 34(1) or (if more than one) the total of such periods, and

(b) any amount by which that period is increased under Part N (transfers) or Part O (added years).

Total reckonable service S

35 S An individual's “total reckonable service” is the total of any periods in which the individual obtains—

(a) reckonable service as an MSP only under rule 33(1),

(b) reckonable service as an office-holder only under rule 34(1), and

(c) reckonable service as both an MSP and office-holder under both those rules.

Measuring reckonable service S

36 S A period of reckonable service is measured in years and fractions of a year (unless the contrary intention appears).
