CHAPTER 1The Commission

Remuneration and staff

I114Remuneration, allowances and pensions

The Commission may pay its members and employees—

a

such remuneration as the Commission may, with the approval of the Scottish Ministers, determine, and

b

such allowances in respect of expenses properly incurred in the exercise of the Commission's functions as may be so determined.

The Commission may, with the approval of the Scottish Ministers—

a

pay (or make arrangements for the payment of),

b

make payments towards the provision of,

c

provide and maintain schemes (whether contributory or not) for the payment of,

such pensions, allowances or gratuities to any member or employee or former member or employee of the Commission as the Commission may determine.

Those pensions, allowances or gratuities may include pensions, allowances or gratuities by way of compensation for loss of office.

The Commission is to employ a person as chief executive.

The first chief executive is to be appointed by the Scottish Ministers on such terms as they may determine.

Each subsequent chief executive is to be appointed—

a

by the Commission with the approval of the Scottish Ministers,

b

on such terms and conditions as the Commission may, with the approval of the Scottish Ministers, determine.

The Commission may employ any other staff necessary for the exercise of its functions.

The Commission's staff are to be employed on such terms and conditions as the Commission may, with the approval of the Scottish Ministers, determine.
