In section 27(5) of the Opticians Act 1989 (sale of optical appliances to medical institutions), after paragraph (c) there is inserted—

to any authority or person providing a care home service (as defined by section 2(3) of the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 (asp 8)), which includes the provision of medical or surgical treatment;
